Labor & Employment Law Group
Our labor and employment law group handles litigation of all types for employers, and counsels employers, as well, on labor negotiations, union avoidance, avoiding employment discrimination claims, formulation of policies and procedures, compliance issues, drafting labor agreements, drafting employment and other contracts with restrictive covenants concerning competetion, solicitation of customers, confidentiality and trade secrets, complying with safety requirements, and contractual, statutory and regulatory obligations to their employees in connection with business acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings.
All of the members of the group are experienced in employment discrimination defense before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Missouri Commission on Human Rights, and state and federal courts. We regularly defend wrongful discharge cases, wage and hour investigations and suits, and OSHA litigation, as well as in counseling employers on a variety of issues. The addition of John Gazzoli to the firm in 2006 has expanded the group’s expertise to include collective bargaining negotiations and administration, preparing employment policies for union employers, counseling employers in connection with strikes, picketing and other labor disputes, providing support for employers who prefer to conduct their own labor negotiations, counseling employers on union avoidance programs, preparing employer campaigns to combat union organizing attempts, assisting management in union decertification proceedings, representing employers in defending against union corporate campaigns, representing employers before the National Labor Relations Board and other administrative agencies and in labor arbitrations. Gazzoli also brings extensive experience in representing employers in all areas of safety and health, including formulating policies and compliance programs, advising in connection with federal and state agency inspections and investigations, and defending safety litigation.
