James A. Hansen
James A. Hansen focuses his practice on litigation, primarily medical malpractice defense, commercial litigation, construction litigation, and personal injury/wrongful death claims for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has represented both publicly and privately held manufacturing companies, general and sub-contractors, hospitals, physicians and insurance carriers in litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He has taken cases to jury verdict in both Illinois and Missouri in addition to numerous bench trials, mediations and arbitrations throughout the country.
In addition to his practice, Jim is actively involved in the Illinois State Bar Association serving on the Insurance Law Section Council, the Standing Committee on Mentoring and as a speaker at numerous CLE programs. His published articles include Jury selection: Selling your case, ISBA Trial Briefs, June 2006, Vol. 51, No. 8, and The Attorney-Client Privilege and the Common Interest Doctrine, Illinois Bar Journal, Vol. 96, No. 4, April 2008. His community involvement includes serving on the Chaddock Children’s Foundation Board of Directors and on the Quincy Family YMCA Board of Directors. He is past President of the Board of Directors for Cheerful Home Child Care & Early Learning Center which is the oldest licensed day care in the state of Illinois. He has also served as past President on the Advisory Council for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Adams County and on the Advisory Council for Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Illinois.
He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Western Illinois University where he was a member of the university’s football team earning two letters as a starter his junior and senior seasons. His senior season he was named first team all conference and a COSIDA Academic All-American.
